Community Christmas Spirit: Mount Battenhall’s Festive Fayre Fundraiser

Sprigg’s Restaurant at Mount Battenhall was transformed into a sparkling Christmas market for the retirement village’s annual Christmas Fayre. The festive celebration brought together village homeowners, local businesses, and the local community for a heart warming event that celebrated the holiday season and supported the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven charity.
A Festive Shopping Experience
Visitors enjoyed a delightful array of local stallholders offering unique gifts, from scented candles to handmade jewellery, with freshly baked mince pies and Baileys hot chocolate as they browsed. For those looking for something truly unique, Mount Battenhall’s resident artist Jill Lloyd, who hosts the weekly art club at the village, had a stall featuring her finest artwork.
The day wasn’t just about shopping though. Complimentary hot turkey rolls with stuffing and cranberry sauce were served at lunchtime along with glasses of prosecco to enjoy during a festive performance from Andy Bayley ‘the King of Swing’ in the village’s stunning lounge.
It was very handy to have all the stalls on your doorstep so close to Christmas. I did quite a bit of Christmas shopping. The turkey rolls were delicious, and the music was super in the afternoon, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Supporting a Vital Local Cause
With a raffle offering the chance to win a Sunday lunch for four and afternoon tea at Mount Battenhall, as well as pitch donations from stallholders, the Christmas Fayre raised over £386 for Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven (WBUH). This critical local charity is dedicated to supporting breast cancer patients Worcestershire.
Breast Cancer is the largest cancer affecting women, and as the only breast cancer charity in Worcestershire we need to raise £250,000 a year to support patients in our county. Everything we raise is done so here in the community, so the support of Mount Battenhall Retirement Village and its residents is so important to us. Thank you so much for your support and Happy Christmas from everybody at Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven.

The Perfect Pre-Christmas Gathering
Tom Newitt, Marketing Manager for Mount Battenhall, summed up the event: “The Christmas Fayre is a fantastic opportunity for our retirement community to come together with family and friends before Christmas, but it also brings a unique selection of locally sourced gift ideas directly to our homeowners. The fact that we were also able to raise funds for Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven thanks to the kindness of our homeowners, visitors, and stallholders was the icing on the Christmas cake!”
