Worcester Mayor Explores Historic Connection During Visit to Mount Battenhall

Worcester Mayor visiting Mount Battenhall

Mount Battenhall Retirement Village welcomed a distinguished visitor last week as Councillor Mel Allcott, Worcester’s current Mayor, toured the community and spent time meeting with owners.

The visit highlighted a fascinating historical connection – the Grade II* Listed building once served as the home of the Hon Alfred Percy Allsopp, who held the position of Worcester’s Mayor three separate times during his lifetime.

Community Engagement and Conversation

Homeowners gathered in the retirement community’s lounge to share refreshments with the Mayor while discussing various topics ranging from local civic matters to the rich history of Worcester’s Guildhall.

Owner Judy Anthony expressed the community’s appreciation: “We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Worcester to Mount Battenhall and very interested to hear how she balances her public duties, family life and work. She is a busy lady and we are very grateful to her for giving her time so generously and conscientiously speaking to everyone present.”

Experiencing Premier Retirement Living

During her guided tour of Battenhall House, which functions as the heart of the retirement community, Mayor Allcott visited numerous amenities including Sprigg’s Restaurant, the elegantly appointed Allsopp’s Bar, and wellness facilities set within the spectacular 6.5-acre grounds.

I think it’s an absolutely stunning building and the way it’s been renovated is beautiful. Most importantly though, you have a wonderful way of life for people and a real community with lots going on. But equally, people can have peace and quiet in their own apartment if they want to. It seems a great way to live and a great lifestyle choice.

Clare Davies, Mount Battenhall’s general manager, highlighted the significance of the visit: “It was lovely to welcome the Mayor of Worcester to Mount Battenhall, and our homeowners were thrilled that she spent so much time chatting with them. The Mayor’s visit highlights our commitment to ensuring strong community connections for the people who live here.”
